Most Children and Teens chat and play on the internet with no problems at all however :

According to a survey involving 1,400 children :

One in five children aged nine to 16 regularly use chatrooms

A quarter have received requests to meet face-to-face

With One in ten children actually meeting up with "Online Friends" face to face.

More than HALF have been approached for sex talk and invitations to meet for sexual activity

One child even reported being sent a ticket to travel to meet an online correspondent.

While there are no real statistics to show how serious the problem of online child abuse is,
we have found statistics that show how serious the problem is in general.
